**Common STUDENT Questions About the Conference**

We've been receiving a lot of questions about the conference.  This is a
compilation of all the questions that have been received in case your
students have the same ones.

Do you have to be an IE to come?
No, this event is open to anyone.

Do you have to be in IIE to come?
No, but if you are a member of IIE you will pay less for the conference.

What should you bring with you?
Bring at least 20 copies of you resume, especially if you are interested
in the speed networking event.


What is the attire for the conference?
For the day events Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, the attire is business.
For the dinner at the LeMont on Saturday night, the attire will be
cocktail (dresses, suits, etc.)


How will you know where to go to start the conference?
The first event during the conference will be at the William Pitt Union.

Should you bring any extra money?
The only events you will have to pay for are the socials Thursday and
Friday night as well as the sustainability exhibit at the Carnegie Science
Center.

What is the new order cards competition?
The information for the order cards competition can be found here.  This is the first time this has been done at an IIE conference.  We will only be doing the single and team manual competitions.  There will be no automated competition.  Please make sure you have your teams ready when you arrive.
Prize money will vary.


Who will you send your technical paper presentation too?
Please send the presentation to Amanda ( alb130@pitt.edu ) and Taylor
( twb14@pitt.edu ) by March 15.


Do you have to stay for the closing ceremony?
No, you don't have to stay for the closing ceremony but it is strongly
advised to stay for the banquet on Saturday night.  The banquet will
include a surprise RFID presentation, the keynote speaker, and a DJ.


How do you get from the airport to Oakland?
Driving: At the airport, there will be signs that point towards
Pittsburgh.  Keep following these signs until you go through the Fort Pitt
Bridge.  Once you go over the Fort Pitt Bridge, you will want to turn onto
the Parkway East (it will say Oakland/Monroeville).  You will want to get
off at the exit that says Oakland.  In Oakland, you will want to turn onto
McKee to get to the Wyndam.

Bus from Airport: Go down to ground transportation and get onto the bus that says "28X Pittsburgh/Oakland."  It will cost $2.25 to ride the bus from the airport. If you are staying at the Wyndam, get off at the stop on McKee.

Other directions:

From East: Via the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) should take Exit 57 to
I-376 West.   From I-376 (the "Parkway East") take the "University of
Pittsburgh/Oakland/Route 885 North" exit (Exit 3B) onto Bates Street.
Stay on Bates until it ends at Bouquet Street , approximately eight-tenths
of a mile.   Turn left onto Bouquet, then right at the first light onto
Forbes Avenue


From West: Via the Pennsylvania Turnpike (I-76) should take Exit 28
(Cranberry) and follow I-79 South to I-279 South.   Follow I-279 to the
"Veteran's Bridge" exit, then exit onto I-579 South.  Proceed on I-579 to
the "Oakland/Monroeville" exit, and then exit onto the Boulevard of the
Allies.  Continue on the Boulevard of the Allies for about 1 mile until to
see the " Forbes Avenue " exit on your right.  Forbes Avenue then leads
right into the Pitt campus.


From North:  Take I-79 South to I-279 South. (You exit to the left off
I-79.)   Follow I-279 until the "Veteran's Bridge" exit onto I-579 South.
Proceed on I-579 to the "Oakland/Monroeville" exit onto the Boulevard of
the Allies.  Continue on the Boulevard of the Allies for about 1 mile
until to see the " Forbes Avenue " exit on your right.  Forbes Avenue then
leads right into the Pitt campus.

From South (Pittsburgh International Airport): Follow I-79 North to the
exit for I-279 North.   Take I-279 through the Fort Pitt Tunnels and
across the bridge to the I-376 Monroeville Exit (first exit on the right).
Follow I-376 to the "Forbes Avenue-Oakland" exit. Forbes Avenue leads
right into the Pitt campus
